Ka Puta Ka Ora Emerge Aotearoa - Peer Services (formerly Mind & Body) is dedicated to strengthening whānau and communities using lived experience. Since 1998, we have provided peer-led support, advocacy, training, and consultancy, guided by hope, personal power, and connection. We support people facing mental health and addiction challenges to take charge of their recovery and wellbeing. Our work includes de-stigmatising mental distress, reducing marginalisation, fostering social inclusion, and delivering mental health education in workplaces, schools, and organisations—supportingpeople move forward and reach their full potential. As a Peer Support Worker, you will support people and their whānau across Christchurch who are accessing the Peer Support Service. Working within Te Tumu Waiora , a collaborative primary mental health and wellbeing service delivered in partnership with general practices across Christchurch, you will help people achieve their goals and aspirations, build autonomy, and strengthen their connections with their communities. This role requires someone with personal lived experience of mental distress and/or addiction and recovery to foster genuine connection, hope and understanding. You will work closely with GPs, practice teams and other stakeholders, so you'll need to be confident building strong relationships and collaborating with a range of people to achieve the best outcomes for those you support. This is a full-time role working 32 hours per week, typically between 8.00 am and 6.00 pm, Monday to Friday. From time to time, you may be required to work outside these hours or on weekends to meet the needs of the people you are supporting. To be successful in this role you'll: Bring personal experience of mental distress and/or addiction challenges and share your journey of taking control of your own well-being and the insights and personal awareness you built. This must be addressed in your cover letter. Have either a Level 4 Certificate in Health & Wellbeing or equivalent. Must hold and maintain First Aid certification including CPR (or be willing and able to complete this).
