Head of Delivery | Software Engineer Background Enterprise Technology Recruitment – Auckland, North Island A highly respected New Zealand technology organisation is seeking an experienced Head of Delivery to lead the execution of a diverse portfolio of business-critical technology initiatives. This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior leadership role where you will shape delivery strategy, drive execution excellence, and help build a high-performing delivery culture across engineering, business, and vendor teams. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring technology investments are prioritised effectively, governed appropriately, and delivered with consistency, transparency, and confidence. The Opportunity As Head of Delivery, you will lead the end-to-end execution of technology initiatives across a complex and evolving environment. You will work closely with senior technology and business leaders to align priorities, balance competing demands, and ensure the highest-value work is delivered at the right time. This role combines strategic leadership with hands‑on delivery management. You'll be expected to actively engage in delivery challenges, remove roadblocks, manage risks, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. You will also lead and develop the Business Analysis function while coordinating work across internal teams and external delivery partners. Key Responsibilities Delivery Leadership Lead the successful delivery of multiple concurrent technology initiatives Establish clear ownership, governance, and accountability across delivery teams Drive consistent delivery disciplines and execution practices Work closely with engineering leaders to balance delivery speed, quality, cost, and risk Identify and proactively remove impediments to delivery success Portfolio Prioritisation & Planning Partner with senior leaders to establish delivery priorities and sequencing Own capacity planning across internal teams and external partners Develop transparent delivery plans, milestones, forecasts, and reporting Ensure stakeholders have visibility of trade-offs, dependencies, and delivery commitments Stakeholder Engagement Build trusted relationships with senior business and technology stakeholders Communicate progress, risks, issues, and decisions with clarity and confidence Facilitate alignment across diverse stakeholder groups Support informed decision-making through transparent reporting and governance Leadership & Continuous Improvement Lead and mentor Business Analysis and delivery professionals Strengthen Agile ways of working across teams Embed delivery governance, forecasting, and risk management practices Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement About You You are an experienced delivery leader who combines strong commercial judgement with a practical, outcomes-focused approach. You will likely bring: 7+ years leading software or technology delivery within complex environments Previous experience in software engineering, technology leadership, or technical delivery roles Strong understanding of Agile delivery methodologies and modern technology practices Experience leading multi-stream portfolios across multiple teams and vendors Strong planning, estimation, prioritisation, and capacity management capabilities Proven ability to build credibility with senior stakeholders Experience implementing governance, forecasting, reporting, and risk management frameworks Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills What Success Looks Like Technology initiatives delivered with greater predictability and improved outcomes Clear prioritisation and sequencing of work across the portfolio Strong stakeholder confidence through transparent communication and reporting Embedded governance and risk management practices Improved delivery quality, accountability, and execution discipline High-performing teams working collaboratively toward shared outcomes Why Apply?
