We’re seeking a motivated Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) who brings strong technical experience, confident leadership, and a pragmatic, delivery‑focused mindset to every project. The Opportunity: This role is in our Christchurch Land Development Team, where you’ll play a key role delivering complex projects and supporting the growth of people and capability within the team. You’ll work closely with engineers, planners, surveyors, project managers, clients, Council teams and add value to our clients and customers. You will: You will manage and work together with the wider Inovo team to deliver infrastructure projects, subdivisions, multi-unit and comprehensive developments ranging from two to 1000 lots plus. Oversee and review all project stages from Concept to Detailed Design and delivery. Supervise, and mentor the next generation of civil engineering professionals. You will manage scope, programme, budgets and risk with support from our leadership team. Act as the primary point of contact for clients, building trusted relationships and providing clear, pragmatic advice. Confidently manage and coordinate multi‑disciplinary consultant teams, including planners, surveyors and specialist designers. Provide technical leadership and decision‑making across design, consenting, access to property and construction‑phase activities. Mentor and support engineers within the team, contributing to professional development, coaching and knowledge sharing. Contribute to continuous improvement of systems, processes and team culture. About You: You are an experienced, people‑focused leader with strong technical capability and the confidence to take ownership of complex projects. What you’ll bring: Hold a relevant qualification such as a Bachelor of Engineering or National Diploma in Engineering. 6+ years of land development and/or three waters engineering experience in NZ Proficiency with 12D or AutoCAD, EPA net, Stormwater and 2d flood modelling packages and Microsoft office. Ability to provide support/training to Junior Civil Engineers. Have an understanding of the RMA and planning processes. Competent with 3910 contract management including Engineer to the Contract. In-depth knowledge of civil engineering and construction specifications, standards and codes. Superb mathematical, time management and organisational abilities. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Proven leadership, project management, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills. Must hold NZ/AUS Citizenship or Permanent Residency. . You will have: Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status. A minimum of 10 years’ experience in land development and/or infrastructure projects Be well known and well connected in the Canterbury Region. Experience managing consultant teams and interfaces with contractors. Experience leading small teams of engineers. NZ permanent residency or citizenship.
