Operations and Finance Manager We are looking for an experienced, values-driven Operations and Finance Manager to join our Senior Leadership Team. Rotorua Community Hospice Make a meaningful difference The role Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Operations and Finance Manager is responsible for ensuring Rotorua Community Hospice operates efficiently, sustainably and in line with its financial, legislative and compliance obligations. You will be a key adviser to the CEO, Senior Leadership Team and Board, providing clear financial information, practical operational support and sound advice to support effective decision-making. This is a hands-on, varied role. While you will contribute to financial planning, reporting and organisational improvement, you will also take direct ownership of the day-to-day financial and operational work that keeps Hospice running smoothly. Your responsibilities will include: Leading budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management and financial planning Preparing monthly management accounts, Board reports, variance analysis and financial commentary Managing payroll, accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, GST, PAYE and other financial compliance requirements Supporting annual accounts, audit processes, funder reporting and financial reporting requirements Maintaining effective financial systems, internal controls, policies and processes Supporting HR administration, recruitment, inductions, staff records and training compliance Leading health and safety systems, risk management and organisational compliance Overseeing IT systems, licences, security and business continuity processes Working alongside the Senior Leadership Team on organisational improvement projects and operational priorities About you You will first and foremost be a strong finance professional: an accountant, auditor or someone with substantial hands-on experience in an accounting or finance-focused role. You will be practical, organised and commercially astute, with the ability to balance financial detail with the wider needs of the organisation. You will bring: A relevant tertiary qualification in accounting, finance or a related discipline At least five years' experience in accounting, audit, finance or a closely related financial role Strong hands‑on experience in budgeting, financial reporting, cashflow, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, tax and financial compliance Experience preparing management and governance‑level financial reporting Experience supporting annual accounts, audits and organisational reporting requirements Sound knowledge of New Zealand payroll, employment and tax requirements Confidence using Xero or comparable accounting and finance systems High levels of integrity, discretion, initiative and attention to detail Strong communication and relationship‑building skills A current full New Zealand driver licence Experience in a charitable, health, community or not‑for‑profit setting would be an advantage, but is not essential.
