General Manager

Tairāwhiti Environment Centre is looking for a General Manager to lead our small, mighty team through a genuinely big chapter for the region. We are home to a community garden, compost collective, trap library, and a steady stream of locals dropping in for advice, a browse, or a cuppa. We're also a connector: linking community, funders, and national organisations so that good environmental mahi in Tairāwhiti doesn't happen in isolation. We run monthly events and workshops, and work on some large-scale systemic shifts for nature and waste minimisation in Tairāwhiti. The role: As General Manager, you'll lead a small team (and a much wider circle of project leads, contractors and volunteers) to turn TEC's strategy into action on the ground. You'll manage operations, people, finances and risk day to day, and you'll be the primary link between our Committee, our staff, and the wider community, iwi and hapū, funders, and national partners we work alongside. It's a role with real breadth. Some weeks you'll be deep in a funding application or a financial report; other weeks you'll be at the table with other local and national organisations shaping how Tairāwhiti responds to some of the biggest land-use and waste decisions of a generation.
