Job Description
Working under the North Auckland Integrated School Support Service (NAISSS), with Orewa College as the fund-holding school, the Catchment Lead / Case Manager works to help students experiencing chronic absence or who are not enrolled, re-engage with education. This role combines the management of complex cases with responsibility for coordinating and supporting the Case Managers and Education Mentors working within an allocated catchment. You will work alongside students, families, schools, community organisations and external agencies to identify barriers to attendance and develop coordinated plans that support sustained improvements. The role requires someone who can build strong relationships, bring people and services together, and negotiate, mediate or facilitate solutions when required. You will also monitor catchment workloads, support the allocation and progress of cases, ensure records are maintained to a high standard, and provide regular reporting to the NAISSS Director. The job involves making and maintaining contact with families, including undertaking home visits. As a Catchment Lead / Case Manager, you will: Have experience in case management within the education, social services, community or Police sectors. Have experience supporting, coordinating or leading the work of others. Be able to manage complex chronic absence and non-enrolled student cases. Be professional and respectful at all times. Have empathy for and an understanding of the issues facing young people and their families. Have the ability to create and maintain strong relationships with people from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds. Be confident working collaboratively with schools, services, agencies and community organisations. Be able to negotiate, mediate and facilitate effective plans involving a range of people and organisations. Be solution-focused, flexible and innovative when responding to barriers to education. Be able to monitor catchment workloads and provide practical support and advice to Case Managers and Education Mentors. Be organised and committed to maintaining accurate, regular and up-to-date records within the case management system. Be able to facilitate weekly catchment meetings, monitor progress against plans and provide reporting information when required. Work well independently while also contributing positively to the wider NAISSS team. Be committed to working hard to support young people and improve their engagement with education. Hold a full New Zealand driver’s licence. Location Our office is in Silverdale, with a hybrid working arrangement. Your work will involve travel throughout the allocated North Auckland catchment, and at times you will be required to work from the NAISSS office. Contract You will be employed under a fixed-term contract due to the fixed-term nature of the Attendance Service funding. The contract will run until 31 December 2027 . An immediate start is possible. Hours of work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30am–5.00pm. You will receive four weeks of annual leave, which is to be taken during the school holidays.
