Job Description

Whare Honey Limited Partnership – Waikato District, North Island Whare Honey is seeking an experienced and motivated Beekeeper to play a key role in developing and growing our commercial honey and pollination operation based in Parawera. If you’re looking to be part of a hardworking, dynamic team in the ever-evolving apiculture industry, this could be the opportunity for you. This is a permanent full-time position, 40 hours per week and reporting directly to the Honey Manager. As part of this role, you will support the successful production of both bulk and packaged honey, alongside our expanding pollination services. The position also includes responsibilities across logistics, fleet management, administration, and compliance. Key Responsibilities Hive manipulation and management throughout the year to optimise production and pollination outcomes Honey harvesting and extraction Swarm management and hive splitting Assisting with hive placement for pollination contracts Identifying bee diseases and implementing disease control methods Assisting with repairs, maintenance, and construction of plant and equipment To be successful in this role, you will have: A current HT licence (Class 2 Truck licence) Experience with off-road driving Proven beekeeping experience, including honey harvesting and extraction Strong knowledge of bee health and disease management Carpentry or practical maintenance skills Relevant tertiary qualification in beekeeping, or equivalent proven industry experience is a must The ability to work independently and show initiative Strong English communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment Good physical fitness Experience with compliance systems and record management The role is primarily based in Parawera, approximately 15 minutes from Te Awamutu. During the harvest and pollination seasons, travel will be required to sites across Waikato, the Bay of Plenty and Manawatu.
