He Ara Hou – The Opportunity An opportunity has now opened for an experienced and inspiring Kaiārahi Haumanu AOD to lead and strengthen our Alcohol and other Drugs and Mental Health services within Te Korowai o Rehua Ariki. This is more than a leadership role. Mō Te Tūranga | About the Role As the Kaiārahi Haumanu AOD, you will provide strategic, clinical, and operational leadership across our AOD and Mental Health services. You will support a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, evidence-informed interventions while ensuring services remain culturally responsive, safe, and effective. You will: Lead clinical excellence, governance, and quality improvement initiatives. Support and develop a high-performing team through coaching, mentoring, and supervision. Provide specialist assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions for whānau. Guide responses to complex and high-risk presentations. Strengthen integrated care pathways with iwi, community providers, and health sector partners. Champion the application of kaupapa Māori approaches alongside evidence-based addiction practice. Contribute to workforce development, service innovation, and continuous improvement. Ko Wai Koe? | Who are You? You are a respected clinician and leader with a passion for supporting whānau affected by alcohol and other drug challenges. You combine advanced clinical expertise with a deep understanding of Māori models of wellbeing and a commitment to whānau-centred practice. Full DAPAANZ registration and current Annual Practising Certificate. At least five years' experience in AOD services. Proven experience in clinical leadership, supervision, or service management. Strong experience delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including motivational interviewing, CBT, ACT, and brief interventions. Knowledge of clinical governance, quality improvement, and risk management. Current full New Zealand Driver Licence. Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving outcomes for Māori whānau. Postgraduate qualifications in addiction, mental health, or a related discipline. Experience working with rangatahi, whānau, and Māori communities. Knowledge of tikanga Māori and proficiency in Te Reo Māori. Experience working alongside iwi and Māori health providers.
