Canine Behaviour Assistant with a difference Looking for a new challenge with canines to love and cherish 32hours per week – rostered over 7 days - Permanent Position Specialist dog care facility, with focus on high needs medical & surgical post recovering dogs Located in West Auckland - Taupaki/Kumeu (Rural) Canine Carewith a difference requiring dedication, passion and experience Full clean driving licence required Qualification in Animal Behaviour / Management or Veterinary Nursing Qualification 2 Full Years work experience. The Doggery is a unique veterinary nursing facility dedicated to the care of dogs with higher level medical conditions requiring monitoring and post-surgicalrecovery involving rehabilitation. We also specialise in caring for dogs with anxiety / behaviour issues and also our senior guests. About the role: We care for a wide range of dogs, that require a higher level of care, so therefore they do not have acces to general day-care and boarding facilities. We work closely with the specialist veterinary providers. We also operate a day-care service and for our furry clients. A core part of your role will be organising and delivering the day care and resident guests . This includes pick-ups and drop - offs at the dog’s homes for that personal service touch. There is also bookings and diary management and ensuring client paperwork kept upto date. This is an all – weather, 7 day a week rostered job for 32 hours per week between the hours of 6 am and 8 pm, depending on bookings and demand.From time to time you may be required to sleepover nights to care for the resident boarding guests. We are open 365 days a year, so you will be rostered across weekends, public holidays & school holidays. We need you to have flexibility to work with existing staff to insure equitable rostered time off. About you: Must be physically fit and able to walk (sometimes fast!) over rough ground and manage large dogs. You will be working outside in all weather on a farm, beach and forests, so if you love the outdoors and being with dogs, this could be a great role for the right person seeking a challenge with a difference. This is not a position for someone new to K9 behaviour and management, you will be required to have at least 2 years work experience with dogs and a recognised qualification in canine or animal behaviour or Veterinary nursing. Because you will share the workload with our small and passionate team of carers, it is essential that you can tell us about how you’ve made use of your teamworking and communication skills in other roles.You will also have some administration and computer skills. Usual duties are outlined in a job description available on request - including exercising, feeding, medicating, bathing and animal husbandry & care. You will be driving the company vehicles, so you must have a full, clean drivers licence and be a confident and very careful driver.A good knowledge of Auckland would be great too! You will also need your own car fully WOF & licenced to get to work as there is no public transport to the rural area.
