This role can be based inWellington or Christchurchand is a rare opportunity to developa tech stack from the ground up. The purpose ofthePrincipal SoftwareEngineeris to design, build, and own secure, scalable software solutions by providinghands‑onengineering leadership,establishingstrong development standards, and growing ahigh‑performingsoftware engineering practice that enables business outcomes through squads. Āumahi| Whatyou’llbe doing Providing hands‑onsoftwaredevelopmentandtechnical leadership, accountable for designing and building secure, scalable, maintainable software solutions. Establishing and maturing a new team from the ground up. Owning the solution architecture, setting technical direction and owning the end-to-endsoftware development lifecycle. Designing, developing, implementing, and supportingsoftwaresolutionsthatmeetsbusiness outcomes viadeliverysquads. You’llalready be working at a PrincipalEngineer level. We are looking for a senior operator who has strong experience with modern technology stacks. You’llcome from a start‑up environment whereyou’vebeen responsible formaking decisions. You’llhave experience owning solution architecture, setting technicaldirectionand designing scalable systems. You’llbetechnologyagnostic,able to assess and apply the right tools,platformsand approach for the problem at hand rather than relying on a fixed stack. You’llbe confident and capable as a hands‑on full‑stackengineer, contributing production‑quality code and leading by example in the team. You’llbe able to bridge business problems and technical implementationbytranslating businesschallenges and opportunitiesinto pragmaticandwell‑structured software solutions. You’llfeel comfortable in communicatingwith non‑technical stakeholders,able to focusonbusinessoutcomes rather thanpuretechnical detail. You’llhave experience with building teamsandestablishingstrong engineeringpractices.
