As a Positive Behaviour Support Planner, you will work alongside disabled people, children where applicable, and adults, as well as their whānau and support networks, to develop and implement positive behaviour support approaches that improve quality of life and reduce behaviours of concern. You will play a key role in coaching and supporting frontline teams to confidently and consistently implement Positive Behaviour Support strategies. Working closely with Service Delivery Managers, Health Advisors, multidisciplinary teams, and regional leadership, you will help ensure practice is consistent, evidence-informed, and aligned to best outcomes for the people we support. This role is primarily Monday to Friday, office hours, with a mix of community/residential engagement and office-based work across Christchurch and surrounding areas. A pool vehicle is available for work-related travel. Key responsibilities You will be responsible for developing and supporting positive behaviour approaches that strengthen independence, safety, and wellbeing outcomes. This includes coaching staff in Positive Behaviour Support strategies, providing practical guidance through observation and feedback, and supporting the implementation of behaviour support and safety plans. You will work directly with disabled people and their whānau to ensure plans are meaningful, respectful, and tailored to individual needs. You will also contribute to multidisciplinary collaboration across service delivery teams, ensuring integrated approaches that align with clinical guidance, organisational standards, and funding requirements. A strong focus will be placed on improving quality of life outcomes and strengthening staff capability in managing complex behaviours in a safe and person-centred way. You will have at least 1–3 years’ experience working alongside disabled people in disability, mental health, education, or a related human services environment, with direct exposure to behaviours of concern and complex support needs. You will bring experience in coaching or supporting staff to implement behaviour support approaches, with a strong understanding of Positive Behaviour Support principles. A BILD PBS qualification or equivalent training is desirable, or a willingness to complete formal Positive Behaviour Support development. A background in applied psychology, health, teaching, or a related field will be highly regarded. You will demonstrate strong emotional intelligence, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build trusted relationships with whānau, colleagues, and multidisciplinary teams. You will be resilient, reflective, and confident working in dynamic and sometimes unpredictable environments. A full NZ driver licence is required, and you must be able to undergo police vetting and VCA checks. Why join us | He aha ai mātou?
