Paraparaumu, Wellington Region | Permanent, full-time | Minimum 40 hours per week | Pay range: $39 – $42 per hour About the Role These are hands‑on field roles working across the Electra electricity distribution network, helping build, maintain and repair the overhead and underground assets our communities rely on every day. We have 4 current vacancies in this role. You will be working for the network owner, which means your role will be stable, safe, secure and dependable. You will be part of a practical, field‑based team that takes pride in doing the job properly, working safely and keeping the network reliable for homes, businesses and essential services across the Horowhenua and Kāpiti regions. Work normally completed Mon – Fri but some weekend work may be required. What you will be doing Building, maintaining and repairing overhead and underground electricity distribution assets Responding to outages and faults safely, efficiently and to a high standard Climbing poles, running cable and completing practical field work across the network Installing, maintaining and replacing lines, poles, transformers, service connections and associated equipment Working as part of a crew to complete planned maintenance, capital works and fault response activities Following safe work practices, operating procedures and relevant industry standards at all times Maintaining accurate records, completing job documentation and supporting continuous improvement in field delivery Workplace and Culture At Electra, we recognise that great people are at the heart of our success. Skills and Experience Line Mechanic Level 4 qualification (or overseas equivalent) or at least 3 years of relevant work experience. Current EWRB registration, or eligibility to obtain New Zealand EWRB registration Strong practical experience working on overhead and underground electricity distribution networks Full Class 1 Drivers Licence required. Class 2 preferrable. Strong safety focus, sound judgement and pride in quality workmanship Physically fit and comfortable with heavy lifting, manual labour, outdoor work and working at heights Able to pass pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol, and police checks Applications from overseas candidates will be considered where applicants meet the minimum skills, experience and qualification requirements for the role and can demonstrate eligibility to work in New Zealand, including meeting any Immigration New Zealand visa requirements.
