Role summary As Invest New Zealand embeds its operating model, this Finance and Risk Lead role will be central to building strong finance, reporting, controls and risk disciplines. This is a broad, hands-on role for someone who wants ownership. You will lead the end-to-end finance function, with support from outsourced finance services across areas such as payroll, AP/AR and month-end processing. Your focus will be on ensuring the finance function runs smoothly, reporting is accurate and insightful, and leaders have the information they need to make good decisions. You will also work closely with the Chief Executive and leadership team, providing financial reporting, analysis, practical advice and support across budgeting, forecasting, governance and risk. Key responsibilities Monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting Budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis Month-end, reconciliations, GST, year-end and audit support Financial controls, compliance and Crown Entity reporting requirements Managing the relationship with NZTE’s outsourced finance team Maintaining the risk register and supporting risk reporting to leadership and the Board Advising leaders on financial performance, risks and opportunities Improving finance processes, systems and reporting tools About you You may be a Senior Financial Accountant, Finance Manager, Management Accountant, Finance Business Partner or smaller-organisation Financial Controller who is ready for a broader role. You will bring strong technical accounting capability, sound judgement, and the confidence to operate independently. You will be comfortable being close to the detail, while also being able to explain financial information clearly to non-financial leaders. You will likely bring: End-to-end finance experience, including month-end, reporting, GST and year-end Budgeting, forecasting and analysis experience Strong Excel, systems and reporting capability Good understanding of controls, compliance, audit and governance Familiarity with risk management, risk registers or risk reporting Strong communication skills and confidence working with senior leaders A relevant accounting, finance or business qualification CA, CPA or equivalent accreditation would be advantageous This is a strong opportunity for someone looking to step into a visible, autonomous finance and risk role with purpose, breadth and real organisational impact.
