Are you an experienced Registered Nurse with strong leadership skills and a genuine passion for aged care? Leslie Groves is seeking a capable and values-driven Hospital Unit Manager to provide operational and clinical leadership within our Hospital Unit. This is a key leadership role responsible for supporting safe, effective, person-centred care while fostering a positive team culture and ensuring the unit operates in line with best practice, legislative requirements, and the philosophy of Leslie Groves. About the Role Reporting to the Clinical Manager and General Manager, the Hospital Unit Manager will lead the day-to-day clinical and operational management of the unit. You will guide and support nursing and healthcare staff, promote quality improvement, maintain strong communication with residents and families, and ensure residents receive care that respects their dignity, independence, culture, and individual needs. Key Responsibilities Provide clinical and operational leadership across the Hospital Unit. Support staff to deliver safe, effective, person-centred care. Promote residents’ rights, dignity, privacy, independence and quality of life. Maintain strong communication with residents, families, staff and external health professionals. Lead, guide, and support Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and wider unit staff. Ensure clinical care is coordinated, comprehensive, timely and aligned with best practice. Oversee staff orientation, training, competency, supervision and ongoing professional development. Support quality improvement, internal audits, incident follow-up and continuous service development. Assist with roster management, resource coordination, budget awareness and operational planning. Model high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, integrity and clinical practice. About You We are looking for a confident and compassionate leader who can balance clinical excellence with strong people management. You will be calm under pressure, organised, approachable and committed to achieving positive outcomes for residents, families and staff. To Be Successful, You Will Have New Zealand Nursing Council registration and a current practising certificate. InterRAI competency or willingness to achieve and maintain this. Experience leading or managing a nursing unit. Experience or a sound understanding of dementia and aged care services. Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and best practice within the aged care sector. Strong communication, time management, numeracy and organisational skills. High attention to detail and the ability to work effectively under pressure. A professional, values-driven approach with a strong commitment to confidentiality and resident advocacy.
