About the role Our Specialist Mental Health Services (SMHS)are at the leading edge of mental healthservice delivery. We provide a range of inpatient and community services totangata whaiora in the Waitaha Rohe (Canterbury district). The Canterbury Regional Forensic PsychiatricService is dedicated to assessing and treated people that have acted violentlyin the context of a mental disorder, or may be at risk of doing so. Italso caters for prisoners that require inpatient treatment. There are anumber of units and teams which includes medium secure units, an open unit anda community team that assess and treat people with mental illness that areknown to the Justice System. Our service's philosophy is whanaungatanga- acknowledging the centrality of whānau inour work and the lives of tangata whaiora. 40 hour per week (1.0FTE)permanent full time position. Will have an on-call component as part of the role. Connect andengage with tangata whaiora to understand their cultural requirementsthrough assessments (Te Arotakenga - cultural assessments). Work alongsideand guide our qualified professionals to be culturally responsive.
