Project Engineer - Automation

About the Role We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer – Automation to support the delivery of automation solutions for Avapac packaging equipment, customer projects and service activities. You will play a key role in developing, commissioning and troubleshooting PLC, HMI and industrial control systems, while supporting continuous improvement of automation standards and machine platforms. Working closely with engineering, production, service and project teams, you will help deliver safe, reliable and innovative automation solutions that enhance customer outcomes and operational performance. Key Responsibilities Develop and support PLC, HMI and automation software solutions. Analyse project requirements and develop fit-for-purpose control system designs. Commission machinery and automation upgrades at customer sites. Provide troubleshooting and technical support for installed equipment. Support workshop testing, validation and machine commissioning activities. Develop and maintain technical documentation, testing procedures and machine manuals. Work collaboratively with mechanical, electrical and project engineering teams. Contribute to the continuous improvement of automation standards, architecture and documentation. Support technology reviews, vendor engagement and automation innovation initiatives. Travel to customer sites for commissioning, training and technical support activities. About You You are a customer-focused automation engineer who enjoys solving problems and working with modern industrial control technologies. You can confidently work across software, electrical and mechanical disciplines to deliver practical solutions. You Will Have: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. Experience in industrial automation engineering, service engineering or industrial software development. Experience working with PLC and HMI platforms such as Rockwell and Siemens. Knowledge of industrial networks, safety systems, VSDs and commissioning practices. Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving capability. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Experience within food, dairy, beverage, manufacturing or packaging industries is advantageous. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally when required.
