We’re looking for a Service / Workshop Manager to take ownership of our service department, lead our technicians, and ensure every machine that leaves our workshop meets the highest standard. About the role Reporting to senior management, you will run the day-to-day service operation - across both the workshop and customer sites. You'll balance hands-on technical oversight with team leadership and commercial accountability, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, on budget, and to a standard that keeps customers coming back. Key responsibilities Lead, mentor and motivate a team of technicians, managing workflow, targets and workplace health & safety. Oversee all service jobs end-to-end - from technician allocation through to job costing, quality checks and final invoicing. Ensure work is completed efficiently and accurately, with minimal rework, both in the workshop and in the field. Maintain high standards of health, safety and cleanliness across the service department. Manage the commercial performance of the workshop, including review of job cards, job costings and invoicing. Provide customers with accurate, timely quotes for forklift repairs and maintenance. Coordinate planned maintenance and customer site visits, ensuring follow-up jobs and parts are scheduled for the next visit. Complete final quality checks on all forklifts prior to delivery. Build strong customer relationships through regular visits and proactive support, acting as the go-to technical expert. Resolve customer concerns promptly with solutions that protect loyalty and reputation. About you Sound mechanical knowledge of forklifts or comparable heavy/automotive equipment. Operations or workshop management experience (highly regarded). People leadership experience (highly regarded). A strong commitment to a clean, safe and efficient service department. Confident communication skills and a customer-first mindset. Competitive remuneration, reviewed on experience. Company vehicle, mobile phone and laptop.
