About the role We are seeking an experienced Social Work Team Lead to join Wellington Rape Crisis in a full-time position based in the Wellington CBD. In this role, you will provide strategic leadership and direct supervision to our social work team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed support services to survivors of sexual violence. This is a pivotal position that will shape the direction of our social work services and have a meaningful impact on the lives of survivors within our community. You will work closely with senior leadership and other service areas to advance our mission and ensure best practice in trauma-informed care Key responsibilities Lead, supervise and support the social work team, providing regular clinical supervision, professional development opportunities and performance management Support the development and implementation social work policies, procedures and clinical protocols that align with best practice and trauma-informed principles Provide direct social work services to survivors of sexual violence where required and agreed Assess client needs and co-ordinate appropriate support services, including crisis intervention, counselling referrals and advocacy Collaborate with external agencies, partner organisations and community services to ensure comprehensive support for survivors Contribute to the development and delivery of training programmes for staff and volunteers Prepare reports, case documentation and statistical data to support service evaluation and improvement and funding requirements and advocacy Participate in team meetings, case conferences and quality assurance activities Represent Wellington Rape Crisis at external meetings and stakeholder engagement events Support the implementation of organisational policies and procedures relating to health and safety, confidentiality and safeguarding What we're looking for A qualification in social work with appropriate professional registration or eligibility Minimum 5 years' post-qualification experience in social work, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role Demonstrated expertise in trauma-informed practice and working with survivors of sexual violence or abuse Strong clinical knowledge and experience in assessment, case management and crisis intervention Excellent supervisory and team management skills with the ability to lead, mentor and develop staff Proven ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear reports and case documentation Experience with data management systems, analysis and service evaluation A commitment to person-centred practice and a genuine passion for supporting survivors of sexual violence Knowledge of relevant legislation, safeguarding policies and ethical practice standards Ability to manage varied responsibilities whilst leading a team in a demanding environment Cultural competence and commitment to inclusive, non-discriminatory practice What we offer Wellington Rape Crisis is committed to supporting the wellbeing of our staff.
