Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora - Southern – Wellington Central, North Island Location: WellingtonRegional Hospital/Kenepuru Hospital/Hutt Valley Hospital Service: PlasticSurgery and Burns Contract: 12months Fixed Term Salary: Asper relevant RMO MECA TheWellington Regional Plastic Maxillo-Facial and Burn Unit is seekingapplications for a junior/developmental plastic surgery fellow to join ourservice for one year, from early 2027. This rolewill work alongside a medical team comprising around 12 plastic surgeryconsultants, and 12 junior doctors of varying grades. You will be rostered to amix of acute and elective operating under both general and local anaesthetic,review patients in the emergency and outpatient departments, and participate insome clinics. Depending on your level of competency, you will participate ineither the senior or junior registrar after hours roster. ThePlastic Surgery Unit is a tertiary service based in Lower Hutt, Wellington, andprovides regional services to Capital and Coast, Wairarapa, Mid Central,Hawke's Bay, Nelson/Marlborough and Whanganui areas, servicing a population ofover 1 million people. The fellow roles will be expected to attend clinics inthese other district hospitals alongside colleagues. You mustbe able to work legally in New Zealand and have either a permanent NZ addressor a work visa or permit and be eligible for IMG registration pathways throughMedical Council New Zealand. Thejunior/developmental fellow role would suit an overseas candidatewhoideally has commenced but not yet completed plastic surgery training.This may include plastic surgery registrars from less developed countriesseeking a development opportunity in a New Zealand unit. We placea particular emphasis on leadership, teamwork, the wider determinants of healthand the elimination of health inequities, with a particular focus on Māori andPacific Peoples health and wellbeing.
