We are looking for a practical, motivated Port Maintenance Worker to join our Engineering Team. This is a hands-on role where you will be involved in maintaining and repairing critical port infrastructure, supporting construction projects, and helping ensure the safe and efficient operation of one of South Canterbury’s most important assets. About the Role As a Port Maintenance Worker, you will be responsible for a wide range of maintenance, repair, and construction support activities across the Port. No two days are the same, and you will work closely with Engineering, Operations, Marine teams, contractors, and Port Users. Key Responsibilities Wharf and port infrastructure maintenance and repairs Assisting with construction and improvement projects Operating plant and machinery safely and effectively Supporting port operations as required Identifying and reporting hazards and contributing to a safe workplace Working collaboratively with internal teams and external contractors What We’re Looking For To be successful in this role, you will bring: Experience in construction, maintenance, civil works, or a similar practical trade environment Strong hands‑on skills and a practical approach to problem-solving The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities A strong commitment to health and safety Good communication and teamwork skills Physical fitness and the ability to undertake manual work A current full driver’s licence It would be an advantage to have: Experience operating plant and machinery Experience working in an industrial, marine, or port environment Relevant machinery or equipment licences What We Offer A permanent position working 32-40 hours per week Diverse and interesting work in a unique port environment Opportunity to utilise and develop practical trade and maintenance skills A support team culture built on Teamwork, Adaptability, Care, and Kaitiaki Ongoing focus on health, safety, and professional development PrimePort operates a drug and alcohol-free workplace, and the successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol testing. #J-18808-Ljbffr
