Role Description The GP Surgeon – Skin Cancer will provide comprehensive skin cancer care, focusing on the surgical management of lesions within NZ Skin Health’s clinical settings. Day-to-day responsibilities include interpreting diagnostic findings and performing a range of surgical procedures. The role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, utilising innovative imaging and AI tools, documenting clinical encounters accurately, and contributing to continuous quality improvement in skin cancer services. The GP Surgeon will also engage in patient education on sun safety, risk factors, and early detection, and may support training activities for clinical and corporate partners. This is a part time, on-site role based in either or both of our St Heliers Beach and Howick Village Clinics. Qualifications Strong clinical background in Medicine and Primary Care, with demonstrated experience in skin cancer diagnosis and management. Experience or training in Family Medicine, ideally with exposure to dermatology or minor surgical procedures. Ability to collaborate effectively with Nursing and allied health professionals in a multidisciplinary environment. Commitment to Training, education, and mentoring, including supporting patient and staff awareness on skin cancer prevention. Current medical registration and practicing certificate (or eligibility) in New Zealand. Proficiency in dermoscopy, minor surgical techniques (excision, biopsy), and wound management. Comfort using digital health tools, imaging systems, and clinical documentation software. Excellent communication skills, patient-centred approach, and a strong commitment to reducing melanoma and improving community skin health.
