Opotiki Mechanical Services Limited – Opotiki, North Island Opotiki Mechanical Services Limited is seeking an experienced WOF Inspector/Automotive Technician to join our team in Opotiki, Bay of Plenty. This is a full-time position based at our workshop facility. As an Automotive Technician, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality vehicle maintenance, diagnostic services, and repairs to our valued customers. Your expertise and attention to detail will directly impact customer satisfaction and the reputation of our business within the local community. What you'll be doing Diagnosing and identifying mechanical and electrical faults in vehicles using modern diagnostic equipment and testing procedures WOF Inspections Performing routine maintenance services including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid top-ups, and brake inspections Conducting repairs to engines, transmissions, suspension systems, cooling systems, and other vehicle components Assembling, installing, and testing new parts and components to manufacturer specifications Documenting work performed, parts used, and labour hours accurately for customer invoicing and record-keeping Communicating clearly with customers to explain vehicle issues, recommended repairs, and associated costs Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment in compliance with health and safety regulations Keeping up to date with new vehicle technologies, repair techniques, and industry best practices What we're looking for A recognised automotive or mechanical qualification with 4-5 years workshop experience with a current WOF Certification Proven experience as an Automotive Technician or in a similar hands-on mechanical role Proficiency with diagnostic tools, computer-based diagnostic systems, and standard mechanical equipment Strong understanding of vehicle systems including engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and braking components Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work methodically through complex diagnostic challenges Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality workmanship Reliable and professional attitude with strong time management abilities Effective communication skills and a customer-focused approach to service delivery A valid driver's licence and willingness to test drive vehicles where necessary Preferred: Experience with a variety of vehicle makes and models, or specialisation in specific systems such as diesel engines or hybrid technology About us Opotiki Mechanical Services Limited is a trusted automotive repair and maintenance provider serving the Opotiki and wider Bay of Plenty community.
