Job Description

Lead a business-wide process improvement project with a well-established Auckland manufacturer. Our client is a respected New Zealand manufacturing business embarking on a significant operational improvement project. They are looking for an experienced Process Documentation & Improvement Specialist to document, standardise and improve their operational processes across the business. This is a hands-on contract where you'll work closely with the business owner, leadership team and operational staff to capture how the business operates today, identify opportunities for improvement and develop a comprehensive operational and training manual that will support future growth. About the Role This is far more than a documentation role. You'll immerse yourself in the business, spending time on the factory floor and across each department to understand how work is actually performed. You'll review existing documentation, interview key stakeholders, validate current processes and create practical, user-friendly documentation that becomes the operational backbone of the business. The business already has a substantial library of historical SOPs and procedures. Your role will be to determine what remains relevant, what needs updating and where entirely new documentation is required. Key Responsibilities Review and assess existing SOPs, policies and operational documentation Observe day-to-day operations across multiple business functions Interview managers and operational staff to accurately capture current processes Compare existing documentation against actual business practices Create, update and standardise SOPs, work instructions and operational documentation Develop process maps and workflow documentation Identify process gaps, inefficiencies and operational risks Recommend practical process improvements and standardisation opportunities Build a centralised operational and training manual Work closely with leadership to prioritise documentation and implementation activities Areas You'll Be Working Across Manufacturing operations Production processes Quality systems Inventory and warehousing Purchasing and procurement Customer service and administration Maintenance Health and Safety Staff training and onboarding Operational reporting and management processes Some existing safety procedures and machinery documentation are already in place and will form part of your review. About You You'll be someone who enjoys understanding how businesses operate and has the ability to turn complex operational knowledge into clear, practical documentation.
