Registered Nurse – Youth Addiction & Substance Use Services Make a Real Difference in Young People's Lives Are you a compassionate and motivated Registered Nurse looking for a rewarding role where you can positively impact the lives of rangatahi (young people) and their whānau? We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Youth Addiction and Substance Use team with team in Whangārei and Kaitaia. This role offers a unique opportunity to walk alongside young people experiencing challenges related to alcohol, drugs, addiction, and mental wellbeing, helping them build resilience, improve wellbeing, and achieve positive outcomes. About the Role As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide holistic nursing care that recognises the whole person and the broader factors influencing their health and wellbeing, including: Conduct comprehensive health and addiction assessments for young people aged 11-19 years. Develop and implement person-centred care plans. Integrate Te Whare Tapa Whā and other holistic models of care into practice. Provide clinical interventions, health education, and harm reduction support. Work collaboratively with whānau, schools, community agencies, and healthcare providers. Monitor, support, and coordinate care for young people with complex health and social needs. Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with professional standards. Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to service development. About You You are a nurse who sees the person, not the problem. You will bring: Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC). Experience working in mental health, addiction, youth health, or community nursing (preferred). Strong assessment, communication, and relationship-building skills. A genuine passion for supporting young people and their whānau. Understanding of harm reduction, trauma-informed practice, and youth development principles. Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and commitment to culturally safe practice. A current full New Zealand driver's licence. What We Value We believe recovery is more than abstinence.
