ELV / Security Technician

Are you an experienced ELV or Security Technician looking for variety, challenging projects and the opportunity to work across multiple technologies? G&S Technologies is looking for a skilled and motivated ELV / Security Technician to join our growing Hamilton team. This is a Hamilton-based role, with occasional project travel where required. This is not a role where you will be working on the same system every day. Our technicians work across a broad range of ICT, electronic security and Extra Low Voltage systems, supporting a diverse range of projects and clients. The Role You will be involved in the installation, upgrade, commissioning, fault finding and servicing of a range of ELV and security systems, including: CCTV and IP video surveillance systems Electronic access control systems Nurse call and healthcare communication systems AV systems IP intercom and door entry systems Structured data and communications cabling Fibre optic cabling and associated infrastructure WiFi and network infrastructure MATV and television distribution systems Paging and communication systems Other ICT and Extra Low Voltage technologies You do not need to be an expert in every system listed above. We are interested in technicians with strong experience in ELV, electronic security, communications or related technologies who are willing to learn and expand their technical capability. What We’re Looking For Ideally, you will have: Previous experience as an ELV, Security, Communications or Electronic Systems Technician Experience with CCTV and/or access control systems Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills A good understanding of IP networks and network-connected devices Experience installing and terminating structured cabling The ability to read plans, schematics and technical documentation High standards of workmanship and attention to detail The ability to work independently and as part of a project team Strong communication and customer service skills A current New Zealand driver’s licence Experience with nurse call, healthcare technology, fibre, AV, intercom or other specialist ELV systems would be highly regarded, but training can be provided for the right person.
