Clinical Practitioner / Facilitator – Impaired Driving Programmes Te Paepae Arahi Trust – Hutt Valley, North Island Te Paepae Arahi Trust is seeking a Clinical Practitioner / Facilitator – Impaired Driving Programmes to join our dedicated team in Hutt Central, Wellington. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in delivering evidence-based interventions to individuals with substance use issues who have engaged in impaired driving. As a Clinical Practitioner / Facilitator, you will be at the forefront of our mission to reduce harm and support individuals towards safer decision‑making and improved wellbeing. This role combines clinical expertise with group facilitation skills to deliver transformative programmes that make a real difference in our community. Key responsibilities Facilitate evidence-based group and individual programmes for individuals participating in impaired driving interventions Conduct comprehensive assessments of participants' substance use patterns, risk factors and motivations for change Develop and implement personalised treatment plans tailored to each participant's clinical needs and circumstances Deliver motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioural interventions to support behaviour change and relapse prevention Maintain detailed and accurate clinical documentation, progress notes and programme records in accordance with regulatory and organisational standards Collaborate with external agencies, healthcare providers and justice sector partners to ensure coordinated care and appropriate referrals Provide crisis support and safety planning when participants present with acute clinical concerns Contribute to programme evaluation and quality improvement initiatives through data collection and outcome monitoring Participate in clinical supervision, professional development and team meetings to maintain professional standards and support continuous learning What we’re looking for A recognised qualification in psychology, counselling, social work, nursing or a related healthcare discipline Current registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant professional body (such as NZCP, ANZASW, RANZCP or equivalent) Minimum 2–3 years' post-qualification experience working in clinical, counselling or social work settings, preferably with substance use populations Demonstrated knowledge of evidence‑based therapeutic approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy, motivational interviewing and harm reduction principles Strong group facilitation skills with the ability to engage diverse participants and manage group dynamics effectively Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with individuals from varied backgrounds Ability to work independently whilst maintaining collaborative relationships with colleagues and external partners Sound clinical judgment and the capacity to recognise and respond appropriately to risk and safeguarding concerns Experience or strong interest in working with justice‑involved populations or individuals mandated to treatment is highly valued A commitment to cultural competence and working respectfully with Māori and Pacific communities What we offer We offer a competitive salary package commensurate with your qualifications and experience.
