Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) - Howick East Health Services – Howick, North Island East Health is seeking a passionate and experienced Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) to join our innovative Te Tumu Waiora team, supporting two general practices in Howick. This is a 30-hour per week position, with flexibility around working arrangements. Ideally, you will be available Monday to Friday. Te Tumu Waiora is transforming the way mental health and wellbeing support is delivered in primary care. As a Health Improvement Practitioner, you will be embedded within general practice teams, providing immediate, accessible, evidence-based support to individuals and whānau, helping them improve both their mental and physical wellbeing. The role: Providing brief psychological interventions, particularly Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (FACT) to patients and delivering evidence-based group programmes. Providing consultation, education and advice to other members of the General Practice team. Supporting local population health by developing intervention pathways based on clinic needs. About you: Need to be a registered health professional who meets the NZHPCA requirements (eg, psychologist, psychotherapist, registered nurse, social worker, occupational therapist) with talk-based therapy experience Need a current practising certificate in your area of expertise with no restrictions. Are self-motivated and independent, and enjoy working as part of a team dedicated to improving peoples’ health and well-being. Want to work in the fast-paced and varied environment of a General Practice. Have some training in talking therapies such as ACT, FACT or CBT. Have an understanding and sensitivity to working with all cultures.
