Your day at NTT DATA Senior Cyber Security Team Lead is a dual-responsibility leadership role, accountable for both leading a team of 10 security engineers and delivering high-value, business-critical cyber security services across a broad range of clients. Operating within New Zealand this role ensures service delivery is performed at the highest level, maintaining client satisfaction and supporting the successful continuance of business operations within the organization. This role ensures managed services are delivered consistently and effectively, helping clients keep their IT infrastructure, systems and security operations reliable, resilient and operational. This role develops the client relationship and builds trust through promoting meaningful outcomes which deliver tangible value for the clients. The primary objective of this role is to ensure contracted Managed Services outcomes are delivered to clients while also acting as a trusted advisor: consulting with clients, understanding their operational and security challenges, and leading them toward practical, high-quality outcomes that create long-term value. Key responsibilities: Serve as the primary cyber security advisor for managed service clients, aligning security services to business and risk objectives. Lead client governance, risk discussions and strategic security initiatives to drive measurable security outcomes. Direct cyber security operations, incident response and service delivery across a portfolio of managed service clients. Provide expert guidance on cyber security risks, vulnerabilities, controls and remediation strategies. Drive service innovation, automation and continual improvement to enhance security effectiveness and client value. Support consulting engagements, solution development and pre-sales opportunities across the cyber security practice. Lead major security incidents and stakeholder communications, ensuring effective response, recovery and lessons learned. Develop and coach a high-performing team of security professionals, building capability and fostering a client-centric culture. To thrive in this role, you need to have: Leadership experience building and developing high-performing cyber security teams. A consultative mindset with the ability to act as a trusted advisor to clients and stakeholders. Strong communication, presentation and stakeholder engagement skills, from technical specialists through to executives. Commercial awareness and the ability to balance client outcomes, service performance and business objectives. Experience leading security operations, governance and continual improvement initiatives. A proactive, outcome-focused approach to managing risk, driving change and delivering client value. Academic qualifications and certifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Security, Engineering or a related discipline. ITIL Foundation or equivalent service management qualification is desirable. Relevant cyber security, vendor, cloud or service delivery certifications are highly desirable. Leadership, coaching, people management or project/service delivery qualifications are beneficial. Required Experience Experience leading and developing high-performing cyber security teams within managed services, consulting or enterprise environments. Proven success delivering cyber security services and outcomes for clients, including governance, service performance and stakeholder engagement. Experience acting as a trusted advisor, providing strategic security guidance and communicating risk, recommendations and business outcomes to diverse audiences. Demonstrated ability to lead complex security initiatives, incidents and service improvements in dynamic client environments. Experience supporting consulting engagements, solution development, pre-sales activities and the successful transition of security services. Strong understanding of cyber security technologies, operations and service delivery models across modern enterprise environments. Experience driving continual improvement, automation and service maturity initiatives that enhance client value and operational effectiveness. Exposure to cyber security governance, risk management, compliance and assurance practices aligned to industry standards and frameworks.
