Distribution Line Mechanics Required (2 Positions Available) $36 - $39.50 per hour + Overtime Rates Canterbury Based – Work Across Christchurch, Waimakariri, Hurunui & Ashburton Full-Time Permanent Employment – Minimum 40 Hours Guaranteed Per Week Strong Team Culture | Career Development | Diverse Distribution Work Power Jointing (2018) Limited is seeking two experienced Distribution Line Mechanics to join our growing team delivering electrical distribution projects throughout Canterbury. This is an opportunity to join a locally owned and operated electrical and civil contractor with a strong reputation for safety, quality workmanship, and looking after our people. What's on Offer? Competitive pay – $30.00 to $39.50 per hour depending on experience and capability Overtime paid at time and a half Double time rates for emergency fault response work Minimum 40 hours per week guaranteed Company phone provided A company vehicle may be provided depending on experience, competency, and role requirements Ongoing training and career development opportunities Diverse work across electrical distribution and infrastructure projects A supportive team environment where hard work is recognised and rewarded Regular team events and social gatherings What You'll Be Doing Overhead line construction and maintenance Reinforcing the supply fuse network to residential properties Overhead to underground conversions LV underground construction works Network switching and testing Streetlight installation and maintenance Distribution box, kiosk, and transformer installations Fault response and emergency restoration work Working safely within live electrical distribution environments What You'll Need New Zealand Certificate in Electrical Supply (Line Mechanic) Level 4 or an equivalent recognised qualification Current NZ Electrical Registration (EWRB) and Practising Licence, or the ability to obtain registration Strong knowledge of electrical distribution safety procedures and industry regulations Class 2 NZ Driver Licence (Class 4 preferred) A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to safety The ability to work both independently and as part of a team Overseas Applicants Welcome Power Jointing (2018) Limited is an Accredited Employer and will consider applications from suitably qualified overseas candidates. To be considered, overseas applicants must: Hold a recognised Line Mechanic qualification equivalent to New Zealand standards Have a minimum of two (2) years' experience working as a fully qualified Distribution Line Mechanic Be able to demonstrate relevant electrical distribution industry experience Meet the requirements for obtaining New Zealand electrical registration Complete any qualification assessments and registration requirements required by the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) before employment can be offered Please note that overseas qualifications must be assessed and deemed equivalent to New Zealand requirements, and applicants must be eligible to obtain the appropriate EWRB registration and practising licence.
