Job Description
We are an exciting new hospitality business preparing to open in Wellingtons northern suburbs and are seeking an experienced Sous Chef and Chef de Partie to join our founding kitchen team. This is a rare opportunity to be involved from the very beginning, helping establish a high-performing kitchen, shape our food offering, and contribute to building one of the areas premier neighbourhood taverns. Working alongside the Owners, Executive Chef and Head Chef, you’ll be part of a supportive leadership team that values quality, teamwork, consistency and genuine hospitality. About the Roles Sous Chef As Sous Chef, you will play a key leadership role in the kitchen, supporting the Executive Chef and Head Chef with the daily operation of the business. Key responsibilities include: Assisting with the day-to-day management of kitchen operations. Leading services and supervising the kitchen team in the absence of senior chefs. Coaching and developing junior kitchen staff. Maintaining exceptional food quality, presentation and consistency. Assisting with menu development and seasonal specials. Stock control, ordering and minimising food waste. Ensuring full compliance with food safety, health and hygiene standards. Chef de Partie As Chef de Partie, you will be responsible for managing your own section and delivering consistently high-quality food during service. Key responsibilities include: Preparing and cooking menu items to a high standard. Running your section efficiently during busy services. Maintaining excellent food presentation and consistency. Working collaboratively with the wider kitchen team. Following all food safety and hygiene procedures. Assisting with stock rotation and maintaining a clean, organised workspace. What We’re Looking For The successful applicants will have: Previous experience in a comparable role. A genuine passion for producing quality food. Strong organisational and time management skills. The ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. A positive attitude, reliability and strong work ethic.
