We are seeking an experienced Senior Health & Safety Coordinator to join our Building Services team and play a key role in maintaining a safe, healthy and secure environment for everyone who visits or works within our award-winning convention centre. Reporting to the Health, Safety and Security Manager, you will support the delivery and continual improvement of our Health, Safety and Wellness Management System while helping foster a positive safety culture across the organisation. About the Role In this position you will: Support the delivery of best-practice health and safety systems aligned with the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015. Coordinate health and safety training, inductions, inspections, audits and investigations. Maintain venue-wide risk registers and facilitate risk assessments for events, contractors and operational activities. Provide health and safety advice to operational teams, event organisers, exhibitors and contractors. Support the management of hazardous substances and other critical risks. Coordinate emergency preparedness activities, evacuation exercises and response planning. Assist with monitoring contractor compliance, permits to work and Safe Work Method Statements. Contribute to the development of a positive, proactive and continuously improving safety culture. ABOUT YOU You are a confident health and safety professional who enjoys building relationships, influencing positive outcomes and helping others work safely. To be successful, you will have: A minimum of 2–3 years' experience in a health and safety role. A health and safety qualification (NZQA Level 4 or equivalent preferred). Sound knowledge of New Zealand health and safety legislation and risk management principles. Experience in incident investigations, and safety reporting. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work independently. The ability to work flexible hours to support our event-based operation, including occasional evenings and weekends. Experience within events, hospitality, facilities, or other operational environments would be advantageous. Current First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
