About the Role This role is ideal for a practitioner who enjoys building strong therapeutic relationships and supporting people to achieve meaningful and lasting change. In this role, you will: Build strong, respectful, and therapeutic relationships with those accessing our service and their whānau. Deliver evidence-informed AOD interventions, including individual counselling and group facilitation within a harm reduction framework. Support people to build on their strengths and achieve their recovery goals. Work collaboratively with referral partners and community services to support positive outcomes for people and whānau. What We’re Looking For We are seeking a practitioner who combines strong clinical skills with empathy, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to supporting people affected by addiction-related harm. What you need: A relevant qualification in AOD counselling, or a counselling qualification supported by significant addictions experience Full DAPAANZ registration The ability to meet Ministry of Justice and Police vetting requirements Permanent work rights in New Zealand What you will bring: Experience in AOD assessment, treatment planning, and both individual and group interventions. The ability to authentically connect with people while maintaining professional boundaries. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to maintain accurate, timely, and professional case notes and confidently use client management systems. A commitment to culturally grounded, mana-enhancing practice that reflects Te Tiriti o Waitangi, te Ao Māori, and whānau-centred care.
