WELDSHOP MANAGER

Are you a proven fabrication leader who enjoys building capable teams, improving workshop performance, and delivering quality work safely and on time? A well-established engineering business is seeking an experienced Weldshop Manager to lead a busy fabrication workshop servicing heavy industrial clients across New Zealand. This is a genuine leadership role where you'll oversee people, production, quality and workflow while remaining close enough to the floor to support your team when required. The Role Lead and mentor a team of qualified welders and fabricators Manage daily workshop operations, scheduling and workflow Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to specification Maintain high standards of quality control and workmanship Coordinate materials, equipment and labour requirements Drive continuous improvement across workshop productivity and safety Work closely with engineering, project and operations teams What We are Looking For Trade qualification in Heavy Fabrication or Engineering Previous experience leading a fabrication or welding workshop Strong understanding of structural steel, heavy fabrication and industrial manufacturing Ability to read engineering drawings and manage fabrication processes Excellent planning and people leadership skills A practical, hands‑on leadership style This opportunity would suit someone looking to join a growing engineering business where they can genuinely influence workshop performance and develop a strong team.
