Job Description
We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented, and experienced Senior HR Business Partner to join the People team at Samsung Electronics New Zealand. Reporting to the Head of People, the Senior HR Business Partner is a trusted strategic and operational partner, providing leadership across employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, learning and development, health and safety, and global people initiatives. Acting as the second-in-command to the Head of People, this role leads the organisation's most complex and sensitive HR matters, deputises when required, and plays a key role in shaping and delivering the People strategy. The Role Act as the Head of People's key deputy and trusted advisor, providing strategic and operational support across the People function. Lead the annual AMI (Annual Merit Increase) salary review process in partnership with the Head of People. Support compensation and benefits activities, including market benchmarking, salary recommendations, and reward decisions. Partner with the Head of People to strengthen and embed a positive Health & Safety culture across the organisation. Lead and deliver strategic HR initiatives and wider People projects. Build strong relationships with Heads of Department, providing trusted HR and employee relations advice to leaders across the business. Lead complex employee relations matters from end to end, including personal grievances, disciplinary processes, workplace investigations, and organisational change initiatives. Support talent acquisition activities during peak recruitment periods as required. Lead the annual performance review process, ensuring a consistent and effective approach across the organisation. Act as the primary point of contact for Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and goal setting, supporting managers and employees to create meaningful development plans. Drive the Learning & Development strategy by identifying capability gaps and delivering initiatives that support organisational growth. Review monthly payroll reports, ensuring accuracy and identifying any discrepancies. Act as the Person in Charge (PIC) for Global Human Rights initiatives, ensuring local practices align with global standards and commitments. Manage relationships with external providers and act as the key liaison for outsourced and third-party HR services. What You'll Bring A tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Organisational Psychology, or a related discipline. A minimum of 10 years' experience in a senior generalist HR role. Strong working knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation, including the Employment Relations Act, Holidays Act, and Health and Safety at Work Act. Demonstrated experience managing complex employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary processes, personal grievances, and organisational change. Experience managing compensation and benefits programmes, including salary review processes and reward frameworks. Advanced Excel and spreadsheet skills, with confidence working with payroll, remuneration, and reporting data.
