Machinist | Hands-On Role | Timaru | Forklift Required Our client, based in Timaru, is a fast-growing New Zealand manufacturing business supplying agricultural equipment to both local and international markets. The Opportunity We are recruiting a Machinist who has manual machining experience and will be responsible for accurate machining and finishing of heavy equipment components to meet production schedules and quality standards. What You'll Be Doing You will focus on precision manufacturing whilst working closely with the fabrication and assembly teams to ensure components are fit for purpose and meet engineering specifications. Completing set up, operating, and maintaining manual machining equipment Interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions Identifying machine components to precise tolerances for heavy machinery and equipment Carry out turning, milling, drilling, threading, and finishing tasks Selecting appropriate toolingand machining methods for various materials (e.g. steel, hardened alloys) Adjusting and optimise machines,including troubleshooting and improving machining performance What Makes This Role a Good Opportunity Generous pay ($40 to $50 per hour) dependant on experience Long-term career opportunity with a growing business Exposure to broader responsibilities as youdevelop Stable and structured work pattern Permanent Full-time (approx 50 hours per week) Monday to Friday (7:00am - 5:00pm), with an opportunity to finish a bit earlier on Fridays! You will bring Minimum of ten years (manual) machining experience in a heavy steel manufacturing or engineering environment is desirable A relevant qualification in machining, engineering &/ or similar trade Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings Strong attention to detail, accuracyand quality A reliable, team-focused attitude, wanting to learn andgrow This role is for someone who is physically fit and comfortable with the demands of manual work throughout the day- requires standing for long periods and moves around the workshop regularly.
