About the Role We are looking for a motivated and caring Health Care Assistant to join our Oncology Outpatients team at Waikato Hospital. The role includes welcoming patients and whānau, assisting with patient comfort and wellbeing, providing refreshments and meals, preparing treatment spaces, maintaining stock levels, cleaning equipment, and supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the service. You will work closely with nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team to support patients throughout their treatment journey. About the Team/Service The Oncology Outpatient Service provides specialist medical oncology, radiation oncology and haematology services for patients across the Waikato region. Our team works across outpatient clinics and our chemotherapy day stay unit, supporting patients throughout their cancer treatment journey. We are a supportive and experienced multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high-quality patient and whānau-centred care. About You We are looking for someone who: Eligibility to work in New Zealand Demonstrates an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application in healthcare practice Enjoys working with people and contributing to a positive patient and whānau experience. Highly organised, reliable and able to manage competing priorities effectively. Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills and works well both independently and as part of a team. Has a strong commitment to patient care, safety, confidentiality and equitable patient and whānau-centred care. Previous experience working in a healthcare, aged care, disability or community support setting. Demonstrated commitment to teamwork and patient-centred care. NZQA Level 3 Health and Wellbeing qualification, or willingness to undertake training.
