We work with clients throughout the region across a broad range of sectors, including dairy processing, food processing, water and wastewater systems, machine control, manufacturing and refrigeration. We are now seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Timaru-based engineering team. This is a key role for someone who enjoys technical diversity, client-facing work, design, estimating, project delivery support and solving real industrial problems. About the role From concept through to acceptance, you will manage and maintain oversight of designated proposals, tenders and scoping opportunities. This role will suit an experienced industrial electrical engineer who has a strong understanding of the work involved on site, not just the design process. Your background may include formal electrical engineering studies, electrical registration, or progression from trade experience through small works and larger installation projects taken from concept to completion. Key responsibilities Develop electrical and control solutions for industrial clients Scope, design, estimate and price electrical projects Prepare high-quality proposals, quotes and tender documentation Work collaboratively with project managers, delivery teams and clients Support clear handover of work packages to ensure successful delivery Troubleshoot and solve complex electrical and control system issues Contribute to best-practice engineering processes and continual improvement Promote a strong safety-first culture About you You will bring strong industrial electrical experience and the ability to self-manage, plan work packages and contribute confidently to technical discussions. You will be motivated by quality, attention to detail and practical solution delivery. You will enjoy being part of a team, while also being capable of working independently when required. You will also have: Strong knowledge of electrical systems, control systems and industrial applications The ability to read and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and P&IDs Experience with motor control, drives, soft starters, contactors, power distribution and related systems Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective client relationships A practical understanding of site work, installation requirements and project delivery A willingness to share knowledge and support graduates, apprentices and developing team members Qualifications and experience You will ideally have: An Electrical Engineering degree; or Electrical registration with proven experience in engineering disciplines Experience in any of the following would be highly regarded: Hazardous Area design and installation, or Inspection Machine Safety or Functional Safety training and certification ( TÜV or equivalent ) Why join Industrial Controls?
