Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become an integral part of the NMIT Aviation School at our Nelson Campus. We are looking for a permanent full-time 1.0 FTE (5 days a week @ 36 hours) Avionics tutor with suitable skills and knowledge that could include aircraft electrical, radio, instrument, and avionic systems to teach on our L3 and L4 Aeronautical Engineering programmes. The ideal applicant would have at least 3 years practical experience as an Aeronautical Maintenance Engineer, with very good knowledge in avionic systems but could also include aviation procedures and legislation, human factors, weight and balance, aerodynamics, structures, fluid and mechanical systems, electrical fundamentals, flight controls and/or propulsion systems. Previous experience as an instructor or tutor would be advantageous. The key responsibilities for the role are: Co-ordination of teaching and learning activities. Developing, updating, and maintaining course content to ensure up to date and industry relevant subject material at the appropriate level. Planning, organising, delivering, and assessing course content. This includes theory and practical, work, and study skills. Managing learners progress towards completion of qualifications. Helping learners to plan for, and move into, the next step on their training or career pathway. Keeping accurate learner records and completing paperwork to a high standard. This position would suit an Aeronautical Maintenance Engineer, who is looking to share their knowledge and experience with learners. To be successful in this role you will need: Aircraft maintenance experience on aircraft with an appropriate trade qualification such as NZCAA Aircraft Maintenance Engineer's License or RNZAF/Allied Military Trade Training qualifications. Skills, knowledge, attitudes, andbehaviours that align to NZCAA Fit and Proper Person criteria. It is desirable that you have teaching experience and an adult teaching and assessment qualification however this is not essential as full training can be provided.
