The 5-axis gantry mill CNC machine that produces the polystyrene patterns for our investment-cast waterjet impellers has served us well for more than 18 years, but it is now a single point of failure, and forecast customer demand is set to outstrip its capacity within the next two years. We've approved a project to purchase and commission a second "sister" machine - and we're looking for a Senior CAD/CAM Manufacturing Engineer to make it happen. What you’ll be doing Reporting within Manufacturing Engineering leadership, the role has three core areas of focus, plus wider CAM programming support. 1. Support machine selection and procurement Develop a deep understanding of our product requirements and the capabilities of the current Zimmerman FZ30 machine. Investigate and shortlist suitable "sister" machine options. Apply Pugh analysis to recommend the most suitable machine(s), then run the quoting/tendering phase and place the order. Investigate and recommend a suitable tooling package. Success looks like: a suitable machine and tooling package procured within budget, arriving within 18 months of project kick-off. 2. Lead installation and initial commissioning Working alongside the Manufacturing Engineering team, plan and coordinate the installation in line with HamiltonJet's new-machinery commissioning procedure. Purchase and install all ancillary and operator-support items. Success looks like: safety buy-off achieved, and the machine ready for quality confirmation and foam-pattern prove-outs. 3.
