About the opportunity The District Planned Care Lead plays a critical leadership role inshaping and delivering our planned care programme. Working collaborativelyacross the organisation, you will influence service delivery, optimise capacityand drive improvements that support national health targets while improvingpatient outcomes. Although this role does not hold direct operationalresponsibility for clinical service budgets or workforce management, it hassignificant influence across the system. Success will come through buildingstrong partnerships with General Managers, Clinical Directors, Service Managersand regional leaders to achieve shared planned care outcomes. You will provide strategic oversight across surgical,medical, radiology and anaesthesia services, ensuring planned care iscoordinated, efficient and equitable. Key areas of focus As District Planned Care Lead you will: Leadthe strategic planning and delivery of planned care across WaitahaCanterbury. Driveachievement of national planned care targets, ESPI performance andreductions in long waiting patients. Partnerwith clinical and operational leaders to develop service plans thatmaximise planned care capacity. Leadcapacity planning initiatives, including development of the Master TheatreSchedule. Championequitable access to planned care for our communities. Supportimplementation of national initiatives including Treat in Turn principlesand use of the Planned Care Acuity Tool. Optimiseutilisation of theatre, outpatient and diagnostic capacity. Leadoutsourcing and outplacing programmes to maximise patient access andvalue. Monitorplanned care performance, waiting list quality and reporting to supportinformed decision making. Workclosely with Acute Flow and regional planned care leaders to balance acutedemand with elective delivery. Leadcontinuous improvement initiatives that strengthen planned careperformance across the district. What we're looking for We're seeking an experienced health leader who is passionateabout improving access and patient outcomes through collaboration, innovationand system thinking. You will bring: Experienceworking within the health sector, ideally in planned care, serviceimprovement or operational leadership. Arelevant tertiary qualification with postgraduate study preferred. Stronganalytical capability and confidence interpreting complex performancedata. Experienceleading service improvement and performance initiatives. Excellentstakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence acrossmultidisciplinary teams. Strongunderstanding of capacity planning, performance management and continuousimprovement. Acollaborative leadership style with the ability to bring people togetheraround shared goals. Acommitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving equity for Māori.
