Java Fullstack AI Engineer / Developer (LLMs / RAG / MCP/ AWS)

Sunstone Talent – Christchurch, South Island A modern cloud-based company is looking for a Java Fullstack AI Engineer / Developer to join a small, high-impact team Work on an AI product in a flexible, collaborative environment? This is an AI product ready to go for market but needs someone to harden pipelines, improve accuracy and latency, and scale deployments to be used by real customers What you’ll bring: BSc/BEng in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar (or equivalent experience) At least 3+ years experience commercial Java software application development experience to be able to work with their current tech stack Ideally experience in AWS cloud services with things like Cognito Strong software foundations (OOP, SOLID principles, testing, CI/CD) Hands‑on Python for Data/LLM backends and TypeScript / React for front-end web services Experience with LLM tooling such as LangChain, embeddings/RAG, prompt engineering & evaluation Practical MLOps: environment config, secrets, observability, performance & cost awareness Data wrangling at scale: ETL, parsing/normalisation, schema design Git/GitHub flow, code reviews and writing clean, maintainable code Collaborative team player who iterates quickly from prototype → pilot → production What you’ll get: Work with a modern stack: React, TypeScript, Python, Prisma, Postgres, LangChain & AWS Opportunity to own and evolve unstructured→structured data pipelines and LLM retrieval flows Direct access to decision-makers and clear use‑cases with real customers Flexible work options in a small, talented team with a 30-year company foundation A chance to broaden your skills across LLMs, data engineering and product thinking Modern tooling and CI/CD via GitHub Actions to AWS Ideally Christchurch office based but happy to consider remote / WFH BUT MUST BE IN NZ / AUS TIMEZONE AND HAVE RIGHT TO WORK IN NZ Come join a friendly, supportive team culture - get in touch with Paul today :-) #J-18808-Ljbffr
