Job Description

Summer 26-27 Project Internships (400-Hour Roles) We are looking for Auckland university students who want to bridge the gap between academic theory and professional industry standards. These voluntary summer projects are designed for individuals looking to gain practical experience, understand how engineering and business projects are executed professionally, and build a strong portfolio. You must be able to attend weekly meetings in person in Auckland, CBD. Working Conditions & Flexibility: Fully Remote: We offer complete flexibility regarding your daily working hours. Workspace Requirement: You must have a dedicated space at home to execute computer simulations, coding, and/or small-scale physical experiments. General Disqualification Rule (All Roles): The use of AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Copilot, Midjourney, etc.) at any stage of the application process or project execution results in automatic disqualification. We require original critical thinking, genuine human strategy, and foundational engineering/design skills. Focus: Creating crowdfunding campaigns. Turning existing tech profiles into market-validated, public-facing crowdfunding assets. No technical R&D is involved. Key Tasks: Total Addressable Market (TAM) sizing, competitor campaign analysis, pricing tier strategy, copywriting, and visual page layout design. Requirements: Background in Business, Marketing, Commerce, Industrial Design, or Creative Technologies. Strong capabilities in data-driven strategy and design tools. TRACK 2: Mechatronics & Engineering (3 Available Sub-Projects) General Requirements: Background in Mechatronics, Electrical, or Software Engineering. Requires sufficient technical independence and a mix of university theory and hands-on hobby project experience. As simple example, you will be given the hardware such as an Arduino and an LED and your role is to make it blink in a super fancy way (= meeting project requirements). Sub-Project A: Smart Embedded Systems & Cloud AI Integration Scope: Phase 1 involves building an ESP32-based Moon Phase Predictor with an E-ink display (low-power optimization). Phase 2 involves developing a Raspberry Pi-based Voice AI assistant interfacing with cloud AI APIs (like Google Gemini). Phase 3 concludes with a CAD construction with user interface that uses a programmed torque mechanism. Sub-Project B: Arduino Motor Control Unit, Power Supply & User Interface Scope: Tuning and optimizing an existing pre-prototype to a prototype. Requires advanced C++ programming, algorithm development, PID control loop tuning, moderate CAD work skills, and electronics design and problem solving. Sub-Project C: Desktop Vertical Hydroponics Farm Scope: Designing and building a desktop-sized vertical hydroponics system from scratch. Design-heavy role with 3D CAD modelling, MCU programming, water control systems, light and power management, and physical assembly. TRACK 3: Full-Stack Web Developer Focus: Building a dynamic corporate website from the ground up on a self-hosted environment without using visual builders like WordPress or Wix. Key Tasks: Setting up a secure Ubuntu Linux environment with an Nginx web server, developing a dynamic backend using Django (Python), creating a custom admin interface, and designing a responsive UI/UX from scratch. Requirements: Background in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Mechatronics. Proven experience in full-stack development and Linux server administration. #J-18808-Ljbffr
