Job Description
An established Tier 1 construction contractor is seeking an experienced HSE Advisor/Intermediate HSE Manager to support the delivery of a major construction project in Auckland. This is an opportunity to join a high-performing project team delivering complex works within a live operational environment. You'll play a pivotal role in fostering a safety-first culture, supporting operational teams, and ensuring industry-leading health, safety and environmental standards are maintained throughout the project lifecycle. The Role Reporting to the Project Leadership Team, you will work closely with Site Managers, Supervisors and subcontractors to drive positive safety outcomes across the project. This role will predominantly support night shift operations and requires a proactive professional who can build strong relationships, influence behaviours and provide practical health and safety leadership on site. Key Responsibilities: Provide onsite health, safety and environmental support to operational teams Conduct site inspections, audits and safety observations Facilitate toolbox talks, safety briefings and engagement initiatives Support incident investigations and corrective action implementation Monitor and promote compliance with company systems and regulatory requirements Assist with project risk assessments, task analysis and work planning activities Work closely with subcontractors to ensure consistent HSE standards are maintained Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and promote a positive safety culture Provide guidance and coaching to site personnel on best practice HSE management Assist with project reporting and client compliance requirements What We're Looking For: Experience in a Health, Safety and Environmental role within construction, infrastructure or engineering environments Strong knowledge of New Zealand H&S legislation and industry best practice Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills Ability to influence positive safety behaviours across multiple work groups Strong investigation, auditing and risk management capabilities Practical and solutions-focused approach to health and safety Relevant health and safety qualification preferred Experience on large-scale or technically complex projects will be highly regarded What's on Offer: Company vehicle included Night shift roster: Sunday to Thursday, 6:00pm to 4:00am Opportunity to work on a flagship Auckland construction project Exposure to a highly experienced Tier 1 project team Long-term project stability and career development opportunities Please note that while this role will primarily support night shift operations, there may be occasional periods where day shift work is required to align with client and project requirements.
