Experienced Metal Fabricator / Welder

We are looking for an experienced Metal Fabricator/Welder. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in high-quality workmanship and enjoys working on a variety of fabrication projects from start to finish. The selected candidate will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and in some cases installing custom metalwork for various commercial and residential projects. You'll be involved in interpreting drawings, fabricating components, welding, adhering to safety guidelines and working collaboratively and problem solving with our workshop team to deliver custom metal solutions to a high standard. Key responsibilities Fabrication and welding of mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium and brass components Reading and interpreting fabrication drawings and job specifications MIG and TIG welding (additional processes an advantage) Site installation (as and when required) Measuring, cutting, assembling, and finishing fabricated parts Ensuring work meets quality, safety, and production requirements Maintaining a tidy and safe work area Working as part of a team to meet job deadlines About you Proven experience as a fabricator welder Preferably 8+ years' experience Familiarity with forklift operation and safety procedures Ability to read and work from shop drawings Strong welding skills with good attention to detail Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious Able to work independently and as part of a team Previous experience in bespoke or custom metalwork fabrication is advantageous Competitive pay based on experience Time and a half overtime Early finish Friday Safe, well-organised workplace that values quality workmanship Variety of work - no two jobs the same A friendly, supportive team environment Christmas shutdown so you can enjoy the holidays with family and friends About us Stirling Metalworkers has been a trusted provider of quality metalwork for the Wellington building industry since 1989.
