About the Role As a Medical Registrar at Tauranga Hospital, you will join a vibrant Department of Medicine offering diverse training opportunities across a wide range of specialties including Acute General Medicine, Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Renal, Rheumatology, Infectious Diseases, Neurology, Oncology, Health in Ageing, Haematology and Palliative Care. There are 36 Medical Registrar positions available, including two dedicated Advanced Trainee posts in Cardiology and Gastroenterology. The training year is structured around two six-month runs. Tauranga Hospital is a 326-bed facility with approximately 90 medical beds, 39 elderly/rehabilitation beds (including acute stroke), a 10-bed ICU, 10-bed CCU, and a 28-bed Acute Assessment Unit. You'll be part of a collegial, multi-disciplinary team working in a busy and rewarding environment. About the Team/Service The Department of Medicine at Tauranga Hospital is a dynamic and supportive team of over 30 Consultants across a wide range of specialties, including General Medicine, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Respiratory, and more. Registrars work closely with a multidisciplinary team in a collaborative environment that values education, equity, and professional development. Regular teaching, simulation training, and peer support are key features of the department. Located in the heart of the Bay of Plenty, Tauranga Hospital serves a diverse population with a strong focus on improving health outcomes for Māori and rural communities. About you As a Medical Registrar (Basic/Non-Trainee), you will: Be eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand Have previous hospital experience at registrar level (ideally in internal medicine) Work well in a team and communicate effectively across disciplines Demonstrate a commitment to learning, development, and patient-centred care Have cultural awareness and a passion for health equity, especially in relation to Māori health All Applications Should Include Up-to-date CV and completed Te Whatu Ora online application.
