We're looking for a Software Specialist (.NET) to join our Customer Identity & Access Management (CIAM) Squad. This is an opportunity to work on business-critical technology that sits at the front door of ASB's digital banking ecosystem, developing the services and APIs that help customers securely access ASB's digital channels. This role is based at ASB's C:Drive technology hub, with a hybrid working model. About the Squad The Customer Identity & Access Management (CIAM) Squad is responsible for the authentication and login experiences that power ASB's digital banking channels. From customer logins, onboarding, and password management through to the secure access services that sit behind ASB Mobile and FastNet Classic, the squad plays a critical role in helping customers access banking services safely and reliably. You'll be joining a small, highly experienced team made up predominantly of senior engineers and specialists who work closely together to deliver secure, resilient and customer-focused solutions. The squad is entering an exciting phase, with strategic identity initiatives, platform evolution and opportunities to bring key engineering capability back in-house while shaping the future direction of the platform. About the Role As a Software Specialist, you'll become the squad's dedicated .NET engineering specialist, helping design, build and maintain APIs and applications that support ASB's customer identity platform. You'll work on strategic development initiatives, proof-of-concept work, platform modernisation and future roadmap activities, while also contributing to the ongoing reliability and evolution of services that support ASB's digital customer experiences. This role offers significant ownership and autonomy. You'll work closely with experienced engineers, product leaders and identity specialists while helping shape engineering decisions and driving delivery outcomes across the platform. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, deploy and maintain modern .NET applications and APIs Deliver secure, reliable and scalable software solutions that support customer identity services Contribute to strategic platform initiatives, proof of concepts and future platform evolution Collaborate with engineers, product leaders and technology partners to deliver business outcomes Apply sound engineering practices across design, testing, deployment and ongoing support Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, quality, automation and performance Share knowledge and contribute to engineering best practices across the team Support the long-term sustainability and maintainability of critical customer-facing systems About You You're an experienced software engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and building high-quality software in an enterprise environment. You're comfortable working independently, taking ownership of outcomes and operating within a highly capable team of senior specialists. You'll bring strong .NET development expertise, a pragmatic engineering mindset and a genuine interest in modern development practices. Experience within Identity & Access Management, customer identity, authentication, security platforms or related domains would be highly valued, but most importantly, you'll be an excellent software engineer with the curiosity and adaptability to learn new technologies and domains. Key Skills & Experience Strong commercial experience developing applications and APIs using .NET and C# Experience building modern web applications and backend services using database or directories Solid understanding of API design, integration patterns and service-based architectures Experience working across the full software development lifecycle Knowledge of authentication and security concepts such as OAuth, tokens and identity services Experience working in complex enterprise technology environments Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams Strong problem-solving and communication skills Experience with Identity & Access Management (IAM), Identity Governance (IGA), Customer Identity or related security platforms is highly desirable Exposure to Java-based applications is advantageous but not essential Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot or similar technologies to improve development productivity and effectiveness is highly regarded Why Join This Team?
