About the Role Associate Charge Nurse Manager (ACNM) roles are essential in creating partnerships with Maaori across all levels including taangata whaiora, whaanau, Maaori staff and the Kaitakawaenga team, and supporting our non-Maaori staff to work together in reducing inequity. This role works in partnership with, and supports, the Charge Nurse Manager to provide clinical and operational leadership within a forensic rehabilitation setting. The focus is on supporting the delivery of safe, effective, and recovery-focused care for taangata whaiora. The ACNM is a key senior role within the team and contributes to maintaining a therapeutic environment while supporting the appropriate management of risk and safety. Responsibilities of the role: Supports the CNM to build a high performing team that upholds the culture, values, mission and vision of the service. Assists with the management of the workflow and workload across the clinical area. Provides clinical leadership and oversight for areas as delegated by the CNM. Engage and work collaboratively with all stakeholders, particularly taangata whaiora and whaanau. About the Team/Service We currently have one ACNM position available in Puna Poipoi and one ACNM position available in Puna Taupua. Puna Poipoi is a medium secure forensic ward and has 11 beds. This ward provides care for taane whaiora who require rehabilitative and/or sub-acute care. Puna Taupua is a medium secure forensic ward and has 10 beds. This ward provides care for predominantly waahine whaiora, with a strong focus on gender-responsive care and supporting the specific needs of waahine. Both wards support taangata whaiora to rehabilitate, reintegrate into the community, and reconnect with whaanau and loved ones. Both teams are multidisciplinary and include nurses, mental health assistants, doctors, psychologists, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, Takawaenga, and activities facilitators. Experience in upholding Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Maatauranga Maaori and Kaupapa Maaori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings. A Registered Nurse who has demonstrated clinical experience in a mental health setting. Ability to display initiative and resourcefulness that will allow you to navigate the variety of challenges you could face. Experience in leadership roles is an advantage. Experience in either forensic mental health environments or corrections environments is an advantage. Sound clinical judgement and decision making capability.
