About the Company Our client is a well-established New Zealand manufacturing business with a long history of supplying high-quality products nationwide. Operating a sawmill production facility in Popoutawhao Levin, they are investing in their maintenance team and are seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to support the ongoing reliability and performance of their plant. This is a permanent full-time opportunity. Full-time 40-45hr per-week. The Role This is a hands-on position working within a skilled maintenance team responsible for keeping production equipment operating safely and efficiently. You will carry out preventative maintenance, respond to breakdowns, troubleshoot mechanical faults, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the site. Key responsibilities include: Preventative and reactive maintenance of production machinery and plant equipment Diagnosing mechanical faults and carrying out repairs Supporting shutdown and project work as required Identifying opportunities for process and equipment improvements Maintaining a strong focus on health, safety, and quality standards Participating in an on-call roster when required About You To be successful in this role, you will have: A Level 4 Engineering qualification or equivalent trade background OR Equivalent Overseas qualification certificate such as Millwright qualification Minimum of two years in industrial, manufacturing, sawmill, timber processing, FMCG, or heavy production environments Strong fault-finding and mechanical maintenance skills Experience with conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, hydraulics, and pneumatic systems The ability to work independently and as part of a team A proactive attitude and commitment to safe work practices Forklift, rigging, dogging, or welding experience would be advantageous What's on Offer $38-$42 per hour depending on experience Overtime opportunities available Permanent full-time position Secure employment with a stable and growing business Ongoing training and development opportunities Supportive team environment Career progression opportunities for the right person PPE and required equipment provided Applications close 15/07/2026 Applicants must have New Zealand Residency or a valid New Zealand work visa. #J-18808-Ljbffr
