Qualified Builder

JSW CONTRACTING (GROUP) LIMITED – Wellington Central, North Island JSW is seeking an experienced and self -motivated qualified builder to contribute to our construction work. This is a critical role requiring expertise with retaining walls and ground up construction. If you thrive contributing to a small, specialised team delivering site specific solutions then this is for you. Key dimensions of the role include turning plans into construction and organising the site and materials. Client engagement and communication as well as job planning, delivery and quality control, are key. Attitude and fit with the JSW culture are important and professional standards are also integral, as is your ability to work well in a team environment. Given the high-risk nature of some of our work, exceptional judgement and setting the tone for health, safety and work ethic onsite, is required. Tasks and responsibilities Perform specialised technical construction work Operation of specialist construction tools and plant where necessary Working with your colleagues and supporting the foreperson to deliver high‑quality work within agreed parameters of time, budget and quality Perform client site visits to assess work parameters and client needs Liaise with subcontractors Adhere to strict Health and Safety protocols during setup, execution and at completion of work. Communication with office to assist with invoicing Experience and Qualifications 3+ years on site in construction/earthworks roles (trade qualifications preferred) Relevant experiencewith trucks, excavators, power tools, chainsaws etc. (relevant licences and endorsements preferred) Competence with TRADIFY software is an advantage Ability to drive manual vehicles is essential, a class two licence and relevant tickets are an advantage. Hours We typically work a 9-day, 90 hour fortnight, i.e. every second Monday off. The nature of our work means that this is a guide, we often have to respond to situations that arise.You will be guaranteed a minimum of 30 hours per week. Location You will be working on client sites as well as engaging with clients and suppliers in the greater Wellington area and in our Lyall Bay office. The salary range is $75,000 to $90,000 annually, plus employer contribution to KiwiSaver. There are opportunities for professional development.
