We are looking for a Senior Developer to help design,buildand enhance these solutions, working with modern technologies in a collaborative, Agile environment. As a Senior Developer within AUT's AI Acceleration Centre, you'll play a key role in designing, building and enhancing the University's next generation of digital experiences. Working across modern web, mobile, cloud and integration technologies, you'll design and deliver scalable applications and AI-enabled solutions that improve how thousands of students and staff engage with AUT’s digital services. You'll collaborate closely with product owners, designers and fellow developers in an Agile environment, contribute to architecture and engineering standards, mentor other developers, and help embed AI-assisted development practices that enable high-quality, secure and maintainable software delivery. You will be confident working across the full development lifecycle, from architecture and prototyping through to production delivery, support, and continuous improvement. You will also provide technical leadership within the team, helping guide good development practices, mentoring less experienced developers, and contributing to a high-performing engineering environment. You'llalso provide technical leadership within the team, mentoring graduate, junior and intermediate developers through peer reviews, technical guidance and knowledge sharing while helping build engineering capability across the AI Acceleration Centre. To be successful in this role, you will: A relevant tertiary qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline At least 6 years’ professional experience in software development Strong experience designing, building, and maintaining modern software solutions in a professional environment Experience developing APIs and system integrations for reliable data exchange between platforms Strong working knowledge of contemporary development approaches including version control, testing, peer review, Agile delivery, and CI/CD Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or similar Experience developing with technologies such as C#/.NET, TypeScript, React or Next.js, React Native, Azure, Azure SQL and REST APIs Strong understanding of software architecture, scalability, maintainability, and supportability Awareness of cybersecurity good practice and common application security risks Experience using AI-assisted development tools (such as GitHub Copilot or similar) to accelerate development while maintaining code quality, security and maintainability would be an advantage As a professional member of staff at AUT,you’llhelp keep us moving forward.
